The Truth About Coconut Oil
Our Government would have you believe that Coconut Oil will cause you to develope heart disease and clog all your arteries. Here is the real story behind this lie:
Back in the 1950's it was noted that soldiers kill in the Korean War had significant build-up of cholesterol plaques in their coronary arteries. This sparked research to find out what was causing it. Researchers determined that saturated fat in the diet was responsible. The “knee jerk” reaction was to declare that all saturated fat, especially tallow and meat fat, butter and oils like coconut oil were bad for your heart, and the public was encouraged to stop eating coconut oil, and switch to vegetable oils and margarines.
Interestingly, it was the soybean and corn industry that pushed for Congress to accept research data that supposedly proved coconut oil to be bad for the heart. The only problem was that the research was done on hydrogenated coconut oil. Over time it has been proven that it was the hydrogenation process that makes oils bad for the heart, because trans-fats are created by this process. Everything that is good in oil is destroyed by hydrogenation, and everything bad is created by the same process! It has just been recently that trans-fatty acids have been proven to be the number one culprit in causing heart disease. In fact, makers of processed foods are now required by law to list the amount of trans-fats in their product labeling!
Coconut oil is a very stable oil with a long shelf-life in it's natural state. It has always been heart healthy in its natural state, and has so many health benefits that everyone should immediately abandon all other forms of oil in their diet, (especially the trans-fats,) and replace them with Raw coconut oil, olive oil and flax oil and start using butter instead of margarine!
Cholesterol is not an enemy of you body! Cholesterol is needed for normal function of many different organs in the body, especially the brain. It does not make sense for doctors to try to block the production of cholesterol with “statin” drugs, when the real villain is the trans-fatty acids. It's the trans-fatty acids, the un-natural creation of hydrogenation, that attacks the lining of arteries causing areas of inflammation. When inflammation is detected in the walls of the arteries, the body mobilizes cholesterol to coat the area of inflammation in an effort to heal it. More trans-fatty acids keep eating away at the artery wall, and more cholesterol keeps getting added to try to heal and neutralize it. The result is a build-up of cholesterol that eventually stops blood flow through the artery.
The cure is to eliminate the source of inflammation, the trans-fats in the diet! When the artery wall quits being attacked, the inflammation goes away and the cholesterol quits attaching itself, and the artery continues doing its job. Modern medicine has it all backwards! Wait until symptoms arise, then treat the symptom! We live in a “cause and effect” world, for every action, there is a reaction, garbage in, garbage out. Good health is no accident, it's simply giving your body what it really needs to function in a way that is defined as good health.
